Juvederm® and Restylane®
These fillers are used primarily for lip augmentation and wrinkles, and injected superficially into the skin. It can also be used for creating volume in small areas. Juvederm Ultra is our favorite for improving under eye circles and troughing.
What are these fillers made of?
Unlike traditional collagen based injections, these fillers are made of Hyaluronic acid a natural substance that already exists in the human body.
How do these fillers work?
The fillers restore volume to provide fullness and a smoother contour to the injected area.
How long do these fillers last?
Every one processes fillers differently, but the average treatment lasts about 6 months.
What should patients do prior to treatment?
You should avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort and high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week prior to treatment. This will help minimize any bruising or bleeding at the injection site. If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, you will be treated with an anti-viral medication before and after your injection.
Are Restylane® and Juvéderm® safe?
Yes. These fillers are non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. The most commonly reported side effects are temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.
Are there any side effects?
As with any injection, some common injection-related reactions might occur. The most common reported side effects are temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These typically resolve within two to three days.
Is there any post-treatment care needed?
Normally, patients return to work, school or their usual routine. Cold compresses may help reduce swelling and bruising. Make-up may be worn immediately after treatment.
Are Restylane® and Juvéderm® approved by the FDA?
Yes. Restylane® and Juvéderm® are FDA approved for use in the U.S.
Do the injections hurt?
With the anesthetic already in the Juverderm XC, you should only expect to feel that initial pin prick. Fillers injected directly into the lip tend to be a little more uncomfortable since it’s a sensitive area. Otherwise most injections are very tolerable. To optimize your comfort after your procedure we offer cooling ice compresses.
How are fillers different from Botox®?
Fillers are for filling wrinkles by volumizing the area. In contrast, Botox® is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles.
How much do fillers cost?
The cost of fillers will vary according to their longevity and syringe size. We often run specials during our Days of Beauty. Get more information
